Plavac mali is the most important indigenous grape variety in Croatia. It was created by crossing two indigenous Croatian varieties: Crljenka (known in Italy as Primitivo, and in America as Zinfandel) and Dobričić. Plavac mali realizes its greatest potential in the most extreme conditions of the Pelješac peninsula. It is considered the king of red wines.
